ATI Radeon HD 5670 (SOLVED)

I just bought this video card for my new computer that I am hooking up to my HDTV. I want to watch the Junior Hockey on tsn.ca (sorry, Canada only!).

Is this video card supported in Kubuntu?

Hi...

I know that ATI's latest proprietary "Catalyst" driver does. I'm not sure that the default driver Linux will use when it detects your card will give you satisfactory results or not, in terms of resolution, direct rendering, etc. If you want to try the Catalyst driver, you can download it here.

There is also a "how-to" page for the fglrx driver here, although I don't know if it is current for the version of Kubuntu you're running.

How do you install the file? I DL it as well, but don't have the slightest of how to install a .run file. Thanks in advance.

I input,

fglrxinfo

in Terminal and the output was,

display: :0.0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series
OpenGL version string: 3.3.10237 Compatibility Profile Context

I read somewhere that, that is a good sign. Also I know my Radeon is a 4670. Graphics are still slow and choppy. I'm not sure if I need the proprietary driver thing. fxgl or something like that.
