    [Solved]Disable HP Printer Card Reader?

I have a HP PSC 2175 printer attached via USB. The problem is, that when I boot the machine up, my boot time is really slowed down because after selecting my Maverick entry in grub, it tries to read the the built in card reader in the printer and, of course there is no card inserted in the reader and it can't read it. It tries to do this several times, before it gives up and continues with the boot process. It does not cause any problems, except that it really slows down my boot time. Here is the entry that appears in dmesg. This is repeated several times.

I am also constantly getting this message in messages-system log. It just keeps repeating over and over.

I think this is related to the above.

So the solution is to disable the card reader in the all-in-one printer, which I never use anyway. Any suggestions?

Re: Disable HP Printer Card Reader?

I managed to get the thing disabled in the bios, and got rid of the errors. I'm still getting a hang that has something to do with trying to recognize a legacy USB port. I'm going to disable that in the bios also and see what happens. >

Got everything working error free. The second problem was being caused by my other USB printer, a very old and hard used Brother HL1240 I've been using for 7 years. I think it finally died. I'm going to try a different cable with it tomorrow. It could be a bad cable.
