    Touchpad Problems

    Hi everyone,
    I am opening up this thread because I am having huge problems with my touch-pad (multitouch)
    My computer is an HP dv6-3052nr and my problem is that my right click does not work.
    This is very strange because I did not have this problem with Kubuntu 10.04...
    Could someone help me out please? I am so desperate that I am thinking to actuality selling out this laptop. I have spent more than 3 days on Googling for solutions

    If you wonder cat /proc/bus/input/devices

    I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=0007 Version=01b1
    N: Name="SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad"
    P: Phys=isa0060/serio1/input0
    S: Sysfs=/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input11
    U: Uniq=
    H: Handlers=mouse1 event11
    B: EV=b
    B: KEY=420 10000 0 0 0 0
    B: ABS=11000003

    Bye guys and thank you very much.

    P.S. I was able to get the touch-pad working out of the box just with Kubuntu 10.04 and Fedora 13.

    Have you reviewed what's enabled in K Menu > System Settings > Input Devices > Touchpad > General to ensure that Touchpad is marked as On, and that in Tapping, Enable tapping is checked, and then, that in Buttons, Tapping entries and what they mean are set correctly?

      Hi Snowhog,
      I did check everything you said, and I got these setting in Tapping

      Right-Top Corner -> None
      Right-Bottom Corner -> Right Button
      Left-Top Corner -> None
      Left-Bottom Corner -> Left Button
      One Finger -> Left Button
      Two Fingers -> Middle Button
      Three Fingers -> Right Button

      I noticed this strange behavior:
      If I press all the way down until I hear the "click" sound, Instead of getting the right click, I get the left one. On the other hand, if I barely touch the right button, I get the right click.
      In Kubuntu 10.04 was the opposite, to be able to get the right click I had to press it all the way down until the "click" sound.

      Bye and thank you for everything.

        Re: Touchpad Problems

        You're the second person here who says they are 'pressing' the touchpad. That is not what 'tapping' means. Tapping is that - tapping (a quick finger tap - hit the pad and lift the finger). So, are you 'pressing' or 'tapping' the touchpad?

        Tapping is for non-movement functions. Pressing and then moving is for movement functions.

        Here, on my laptop, a quick double-tap of the lower right corner brings up the pop-up action menu.
