    Lid closing problem on laptop

Not too long ago my laptop was behaving as I wanted it to: when i closed the lid, nothing happened, and when I reopened it I was back where I was before. No longer -- when i close the lid, the machine goes into some kind of wait state after about 15 seconds, and it takes some work to get back to where I was (audio being a particular nuisance, since it gets muted).

The system settings have a power management section, and in that section there are several profiles related to powersaving. In each one of them I've set the "lid closing" option to Do Nothing. I've also tried turning Power Devil off and on. But none of that helps. There must be another setting somewhere that controls the behavior when the lid is closed. But where is it?

Re: Lid closing problem on laptop

Unless there is a certain bug involving your laptop and it's particular acpi system, I can only suggest renaming/moving the 2 powerdevil config files from /home/<username>/.kde/share/config and seeing if that fixes the issue after rebooting.

It seems like something is making it look like your laptop is running on battery power, as I believe the default is to suspend on lid-close on battery power, but that should be changeable fia the configuration tool.

Power Devil checkbox seems to be the problem

I again tried unchecking "Let Power Devil manage screen saving" and that solved the problem of lid closing doing more than I wanted it to, though I don't know what else I lost. I wish that had been clearer.
