    Nvidia X Server settings...

    Hi...

When I bring up the Nvidia X Server Settings program and navigate to "X Server XVideo Settings," moving the slider bars does not seem to change anything. I need some help in figuring out where to look or what to do here.

I'm trying to adjust the contrast or gamma, whatever it is that will bring some color and reverse this "bleached out" look that I have been enduring since I installed Kubuntu. Also, it seems too bright and changing the brightness level in "System Settings" doesn't help too much.

Let me know what information you need.

    Regards...

It's not a function I have ever needed to play with. FYI, here is what it looks like when it is working:

Does your monitor show up, like mine does? If not, you can try, under the "X Server Display Configuration", pressing the "Detect Displays" button. If that seems to change something, then you need to "Save to X Configuration File" (you will have needed to start nvidia-settings with "kdesudo" for this to work.

Also, if your display shows up on the left-hand panel, then you might try to "Acquire Edid" on that panel. The Nvidia card needs to know about your display before the XVideo Settings thing is going to work.

        Hi dibl...

        Thank you for your response.

Yes, everything seems to check out as far as what you've mentioned.

Have you attempted to raise the contrast and reduce the brightness with the monitor's controls -- does it have controls?

            Hi...

Yes, it does. However, I've chosen to use KDE's setting with that so it doesn't affect my copy of Vista, which is exactly where I want it.

It's just that there is more than the brightness that I want to adjust.
