Libreoffice (solved)

I did a apt-get install libreoffice, it installed several files and now it works Thanks

I just install libreofffice from the ppa repository and it will not open any documents or create a text document, what did I miss?? thanks Richard

Sounds like a permission problem. Use Dolphin to view the /opt/libreoffice/program directory and see if soffice has -r-xr-xr-x permissions set. Dittos for soffice.bin, sdraw, sweriter, smath, spadmin, unoinfo, unopkg, unopkg.bin and python.
