Could not download all repository indexes [RESOLVED]

For the past week or so, I have been getting this error message from Synaptic when reloading for any new packages:

Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/...id/Release.gpg Something wicked happened resolving 'us.archive.ubuntu.com:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname)
Failed to fetch http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/...ic/Release.gpg Something wicked happened resolving 'archive.canonical.com:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname)
Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/di...ty/Release.gpg Something wicked happened resolving 'security.ubuntu.com:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname)
Failed to fetch http://dl.google.com/linux/talkplugi...le/Release.gpg Something wicked happened resolving 'dl.google.com:http' (-5 - No address associated with hostname)
Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Are these archives obsolete, or is there an adjustment that needs to be made to the addresses?

Re: Could not download all repository indexes

I don't have those repositories in my install. I'm not sure what they would contain that would be necessary. However, when I click on the URL, it downloads the gpg key. Which is what it should do. So if you need those repositories, I think you have a DNS problem. You might try a different DNS to see if that works. If you don't need those repositories, simply comment them out in your sources.list file.

Yep, what Detonate said, plus that one is definitely obsolete for your Lucid system, and there's no known requirement for a Google repository, AFAIK -- you can get the chrome browser from the standard *buntu repos.

Thanks, I appreciate the assistance. After snooping around my files a bit, I ultimately removed the "karmic" links (don't know why they were even there), and decided that if the .gpg links are not doing any harm to my package manager and system.
