Wallpaper Slideshow Disrupts Movie Playback

Hi,

I've noticed then watching videos I get regular playback distortion that I can only think is related to my wallpaper slideshow changing every ten minutes.

Does anyone know how the slideshow runs? Can I use 'nice' to lower its priority?
