    Wine/Starcraft II

I copied Starcraft II's installation folder from my windows partition to the program files on the C drive of the wine folder in my home folder. The loading screen comes up clear, but just before it switches to the login screen, it gets distorted, and the game is distorted no matter what it is displaying. I can log in, and then start a match of starcraft, but it is still distorted. The initial impression is that it's pixelated, but what the issue is is it's displaying some areas in more than one area.

I am running an hp pavilion dv7, with 8GB DDR2 RAM, ATI Radeon HD 4650 with 1GB dedicated memory, intel centrino 2 quad core processor at 2 GHz. I have Kubuntu 10.10 release candidate installed. I have followed directions online that i found in forums that involved running a file called winetricks, and playing around with the HKEY_current user in wine. I have the proprietary drivers installed for the catalyst system. I have got World of Warcraft running perfectly smoothly, so I doubt that it's a video driver issue.

If anyone knows what's going on and how to fix it, I'd appreciate it.

Install current Wine 1.3.4 from below, if you haven't already:
    https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/ppa

Also install the package winetricks, then open a Konsole window and enter the following:
    Code:
    winetricks droid fontfix fontsmooth-rgb gdiplus gecko vcrun2008 vcrun2005 allfonts d3dx9 win7
    Also set mmdevapi to disabled.

I followed your instructions there, upgrading my wine package and running winetricks again with those parameters. However, SC2 still displays very pixelated-like on the screen, I do not see any improvement.

Well, by setting the orm=backbuffer, I am able to eliminate the problem I had. Unfortunately, when I have orm=backbuffer, when I start a match, I can't see anything except for a bit in the lower left hand corner. When i set orm to something else, I cannot create a match against AI. Are there any setting combinations that would work for an ATI card? That seems to be the main problem, that I have an ATI graphics card.
