    Netflix and konqueror or VirtualBox

I want to play netflix movies. I have over come the browser identification problem, but still have active x issues and can't get to it in firefox. I have the starlight app for firefox, wonder if there is one for Konqueror.

can't get vbox to work because i am using a downloaded ISO file. any work around for that?

Netflix simply will not run in Linux, no matter if you somehow get MS's windows software to run in linux, or use Moonlight or what have you. You would be better off trying to run windows in the vm. Netflix simply will not allow it.

Funny thing is, all those TV's, blu-ray players, etc that offer Netflix mostly run embedded Linux
Luckily prices on these blu-ray players are coming down to less than $100, so that's how I will do it when these go on sale (hopefully) for the holidays if i manage to scape the cash together.

As for virtualbox, you have to actually install an OS into the virtual machine, either by using your Windows or Linux disk in your optical drive, or by using your Linux iso as a pseudo drive. No workaround involved, you just have to figure out that part on your own if you have downloaded some dodgy windows iso from somewhere

I have to find something that is going to work, I can't even get IE7 to work in wine using playon linux. I cannnot download any activex. is there anything with in linux that can handle this. is there nothing to fix this one problem. I have been using Linux as dual boot for about 3 years. Both Ubuntu and fedora. I just think after all this time some programmer out there would have come up with a solution that will help the non programmer type like me. I can do basic junk, but

I think it is safe to assume that ALL free downloadable Windows ISO's, regardless of version, are "dodgy", i.e., infected with at least a back door, and/or a keyboard logger. Besides being illegal.

It simply is impossible to stream netflix in Linux at this time, wine or no wine. You need windows or a Mac afaik. It is something I have been casually following for a year or more now. It is DRM issue from Netflix even if you got Silverlight to run in wine, or Moonlight for linux has proper support. Without the DRM stack available on non-embedded devices, you still could not stream.

That is why I am keeping my dvd-based netflix account until I can save up the 100 bucks for the blu-ray player I want that has the streaming client built-in. Xbox, wii, ps3 can do netflix as well, as well as devices like the roku box.
