Re: CVE-2010-3081 kernel: 64-bit Compatibility Mode Stack Pointer Underflow
Most people run computers older than 4 years old?
If that were true then Win7 has an extremely low uptake!
IMO, older laptops (from the expensive side of the spectrum) were well built and would last a long time, except for the battery and CMOS clock on the mobo. BUT, they lack the performance that most people prefer, IF they can afford to upgrade to the higher performing machines. I installed Puppy 4.3.1 on a 12 year old Toshiba Tecra 8100 a couple weeks ago. Win95 was on the Tecra but was too slow and bug infested to be useful. I found out Sunday that the original battery STILL runs it for about 15 minutes! But, with an under powered CPU, 800X600 max screen, no touch pad but a slightly worn toggle button, and USB 1.0, 2565MB RAM, and a 10GB HD most people who could afford to would buy a newer, less than 4 year old, computer even if it is used, just to get the 64bit, fast CPU, big memory, built in wireless and large HD.
