On two of my machines I have Kubuntu 10.04.1 and KDE 4.5.1. Both started out with 9.10 then went to 10.04 then KDE was upgraded. On both plasma-desktop randomly freezes. When this happens I can't click desktop shortcuts, the menu, anything on the desktop, the task bar doesn't change, the clocks don't change, ect. However I can still "Alt+F2" and get the command launcher and run programs, desktop effects still work, everything else is still functional. To un-freeze it I have to either logout/log back in, restart X, or kill plasma-desktop and restart it. Nothing I have done has helped this at all. Is there something obvious I'm missing or some bug or something that can be fixed? Thanks!

Re: Plasma Freezes (KDE 4.5.1)
You might want to try
sudo apt-get --reinstall install kubuntu-desktop
and follow that with plasma-desktop
Then reboot."A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.”
