For anyone with performance issues of Flash on AMD64: nspluginwrapper 1.3.0

    http://freshmeat.net/projects/nsplug...eleases/291307
    http://packages.debian.org/sid/nspluginwrapper

I already tested it and it makes a huge difference. Performance is really better than with the old 1.2.2
    I also filed a need-packaging report of it: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/634347

Anyone who uses Flash 32-bit via nspluginwrapper on AMD64, I recommend this new version of nspluginwrapper, since it really is alot better

nspluginwrapper is just utter garbage - I doubt it will be much better with a new version.
I rather use the last 64-bit version and be careful on which site I use it.

Then that's you're opinion. Sure, the 64-bit version is much better, I agree with that. But with nspluginwrapper 1.3.0 performance got a lot better. Not as good as the 64-bit version, but much better than 32-bit normal.
I don't want to use a 64-bit version that has security holes. You never know which site may use one of those holes.

BTW, did you know that you don't have to have flash anymore to watch Youube videos? You can watch them in the new HTML5 player. Supported by Firefox, Chrome, Chromium, and Opera.

You can try it by going to:

I don't know what suspicious sites you surf around, that you have to be that concerned

That's still in Beta and you'll have to register for it. Also, you'll have to use the new Firefox 4.0 Beta, which can be installed from the Mozilla Daily repository: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozill...y/+archive/ppa
Finally, only a part of the YouTube videos is avaiable there.

I did not have to register for it. I'm using it in Chromium without issues.

I just tried it in FF 3.6.9 and it worked fine. A little slow loading the video, but ran OK.

You don't have to register for it. But @Yuri: Yeah, it's still in beta but it works without any issues in both Chromium and Firefox. So it's just a label. Just like GMail. Google speaks about beta, but it isn't.

Indeed, the video's load a little slow with HTML5, but the performance and playback is waaaaay better than with Flash. I've been using YouTube HTML5 for several months now

It says "Join the Beta" at the bottom, so I thought that means registering for it or something. However, it seems all you need to do is clicking the link, and then it says that you joined the Beta... I don't quite see the point in this

Really? It says on the site that you need Firefox 4 to use it.

All I know is that I clicked on the link at the bottom and it now works in 3.6.9. Maybe they have not updated the site.

Nope, HTML5 bèta works with 3.6.9 If you want to use the improved HTML5 bèta with WebM, then you'll need Firefox 4.
"We support browsers that support both the video tag in HTML5 and either the h.264 video codec or the WebM format (with VP8 codec)"
So Firefox 3.6.9 supports HTML5 with h.264 and Firefox 4 supports HTML5 with the improved WebM.
