    update-initramfs Q

Ok today I had some updates in "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade"

1 of them was a new kernel 2.6.32-24.41 to 2.6.32-24.42
as things were being unpacked setup and all ..... update-initramfs exited with
    cant open /scripts/casper-functions
not an exact quote as I forgot to copey it to file but close...
and indeed thare is no /scripts/casper-functions ?

my question is did my initrd.img get updated for the kernel change or am I still using the old one ....and dose it mater?

I'v never seen this error happen befor!!

From the Ubuntu forum (actually the "offtopic" section because your questions, asked by another there, was not about debian):

The Canonical-Census package is the problem here. I uninstalled it and resolved the problem. Big bug if you ask me.
You might try a reinstall after deleting the census package.

      thanks @GreyGeek that did it
      Code:
      sudo update-initramfs -u
finished without an error after purging Canonical-Census with muon

now for a reboot and see what happens

          Indeed!

It also shows how interwoven all this stuff is, like a spider's web. Pluck a string on one edge and blow a bug off the web on the opposite side, out of sight.
