Re: Dolphin froze and unresponsive

    The specs on my system:

    Intel Core 2 duo E7200 2.53 Ghz
    Geforce 8400 GS
    nvidia drivers
    3GB DDR2
    Kubuntu LL 10.04 KDE 4.5.1

With these specs and Kde 4.4 all worked nice, even Dolphin, but when I updated to Kde 4.5 started this problem, although now it does not happen as often, maybe some update fixed it.

    GreyGeek,

When Dolphin is misbehaving I get this output with service --status-all

    [ ? ] avahi-daemon

    no nepomuk, strigi output.

      Those are my settings too.

Since the recent upgrades to my Lucid with KDE 4.5.1 my Dolphin works fine. Now it is my FireFox that pauses for about 5 or 6 seconds at startup before I can do anything with it. But, after it is running its fast enough.

GreyGeek, my Firefox always worked fine with Kde4.4, and with Kde4.5 too. "Maybe" you have installed some Firefox's plugin and causes that behaviour.

You may have a point there. I forgot that I had installed Google Talk Plugin and Google Talk Plugin Video Accelerator, and the Skype for Kopete plugin. I'll have to disable those and see what happens.

            Re: Dolphin froze and unresponsive

My Dolphin-freezes were gone after I added this PPA to get the latest dbus (someone said that it worked for him and it seemed to work for me to):
            https://launchpad.net/~aleksander-m/...us-development
On Maverick this isn't necessary, as dbus is already the latest in Maverick.
Most important laptop specs (this is my main computer, with Kubuntu on it):

4096MB RAM (DDR2)
500GB Hard Disk
ATI Mobility Radeon 4570HD Videocard with 512MB GDDR3 RAM, up to 2280MB VRAM
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo-processor T6600

OS: Kubuntu 10.10
