I'm not surprised you are confused.

I suspected they have come from the backports ppa that facilitated the installation of kde 4.5 rather than enabling backports per se, although I see you appear to have that activated too.

From my perspective the packages just appearedin an update. Very odd!

Well, I did the KDE 4.5 upgrade shortly after it became available, and I presume it came from one of these:
      Code:
      dibl@lucid:~$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/kubuntu-ppa-ppa-lucid.list
      deb [url]http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/ppa/ubuntu[/url] lucid main
      dibl@lucid:~$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/kubuntu-ppa-experimental-lucid.list
      deb [url]http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/experimental/ubuntu[/url] lucid main
I still have them enabled, and yet no OOO 3.2.1 from there either.

It's no big deal -- I'm fine with 3.2.0, but I'm very curious about what's going on with the repos.

        My 3.2.1 came from "Lucid-proposed/main"

Aha! Well, that sounds like a valid suspect -- I'll give it a shot.

          Thanks GG!

That's weird, the proposed repository isn't even on my list but...

            deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/ppa/ubuntu lucid main

            ...was found in sources.list.d

The backports are disabled in my config file...

It's not in "Backports", it's in "Proposed".
To enable "Proposed", in Synaptic go to System > Repositories, "Updates" tab, place a checkmark at "Proposed Updates".
