    plymouthd on kdesc4.5 issue

    1. I have upgraded to KDE SC 4.5 and plymouthd won't stop after kdm starts,
and it is eating 20% of "wakeups" (as reported from powertop).

After inspecting /etc/init/plymouth-stop.conf I have found that it should quit after kdm is starting, but it still do some calculations...

    2. Is there a way to disable or remove plymouthd? It seems that mountall depends on it, and also kubuntu-desktop depends on it, so I see no way to disable plymouthd gently.

    Any suggestion?

try making a new user and see if the new user has the same problem.

if no ....then the problem is probably some leftover config in your /home

    if yes...?

I just checked on mine, the PC has been up for 5 hrs since I got up earlier, plymouthd is still running.

        No plymouthd running here.

About kubuntu-desktop, it's only a meta package which drags in other packages, so it can be safely uninstalled.
