Best way to upgrade to kde 4.5 after fresh install of Kubuntu 10.04..

I have a question, dont know if it shouldve been in a new thread
if I were to do a CLEAN install of kubuntu.. should i
    1. install kubuntu then add ppa for 4.5 and upgrade, then tweak away, add my fav apps...
    or should i
    2. install kubuntu, tweak away, add my fav apps then add ppa to upgrade to 4.5?

whats the most "stable" way.. and is it sill LTS if you add the ppa's? i mean its' GreAt kubuntu has the latest in the LTS instead of waiting for 10.10 which isnt LTS..
any info, experiences, or suggestions would be most appreciated..

(I posted this on the end of another thread, figured others may have the same questions and would like to see the answers in it's own thread, hope I didn't break any rules.. ill go over and see if i can delete my reply on the end of the other thread)

Upgrade to 4.5 right away, then do any tweaks.
Use Synaptic to do the upgrade, people are having problems upgrading with Kpackagekit.
    Install it like this:
    sudo apt-get install synaptic

Launch Synaptic, then go to Settings > Repositories, and on the "Other Software" tab click on "Add" and enter:
    ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports

Click on OK, then in the toolbar click on "Reload", "Mark all upgrades" and "Apply".

Sometimes it won't work. I always download packages with synaptic and then restart PC and use in recovery mode dpkg - repair broken packages. I got WiFi so if u got LAN u can use option to launch terminal with networking and install it without using graphical mode.
