    [SOLVED] Konqueror Welcome Screen

    When you first open up the Konquerer browser (unless your 'Home' is already set to something else), you get this nice looking welcome screen.
    This is the screen im talking about:
    [img width=400 height=225]http://i35.tinypic.com/oud57b.png[/img]

    Is there anyway to put this as my "Home?" That when i click the 'Home' button it will take me here?
    I tried to see if there was a link associated with the screen but i couldn't find anything relating to this page.

    I don't know whether or not there is a URL associated with the Konqueror Welcome Screen, but you can always open it with
    Help -> Konqueror Introduction

    At least that's the way it is set up on Kubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron

      Re: Konquerer Welcome Screen

      @Telengard's idea seams best as far as I can tell so far............I can put
      about:konqueror
      as the URL for home page in Konqueror's setings and if browsing the web ctrl>h or go>home page or the home icone frome the dropdown from the toolbar will take me to the page you want ....BUT not if browsing files?

      however as I say Telengard's way allwase works

          Vinny is correct. If you set your home URL to about:konqueror then you can get to the Konqueror Welcome Screen by clicking the home button in Konqueror's toolbar.

              Orly? It works for me though. Changing the Home URL setting in Konqueror changes it for all profiles. Thereafter I can always bring up the Konqueror Welcome Screen by clicking the Home button in Konqueror's toolbar.

              Code:
              $ lsb_release -dc
              Description:  Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS
              Codename:    hardy
              $ konqueror -v
              Qt: 3.3.8b
              KDE: 3.5.10
              Konqueror: 3.5.10
              Maybe later versions of Konqueror allow each profile to have its own unique Home URL which gets saved with the profile. Maybe you need to do something like this.
              • start Konqueror
              • Settings -> Load View Profile -> File Management
              • Settings -> Configure Konqueror -> Home URL -> about:konqueror
              • Settings -> Save View Profile "File Management"

              I'm just guessing though.

                Re: Konquerer Welcome Screen

                I went to Settings>Configure Konquerer>Home Page: then i entered:
                Code:
                about:konquerer
                However I must have done something wrong because when i Click 'home' it takes me too Kubuntu.org still.

                  Re: Konquerer Welcome Screen

                  By the way, the Konqueror Welcome Screen looks a lot different on Hardy. It includes some shortcuts similar to Opera's speed dial (IIRC) which I find to be quite useful. Just for the sake of comparison

                    Re: Konquerer Welcome Screen

                    It works for me in 4.5rc, It didn't work the first time I tried, however, though. I think that making sure only one tab is open, making your changes then closing konq and restarting is what worked here. I am not sure though.

                    As to the home in file-manager mode, well Home means different things to a web browser and to a file manager. if you look up at the Home button (in either mode) you will spy a little downward pointing arrow - check that out

                      Looks like a spelling error. Try this instead:

                      Code:
                      about:konqueror

                        Yeah there was a spelling error on my part, however it still wasn't able to go to the intro screen. It's not of major importance but i thought i'd ask. Maybe in later versions it will allow linking to the intro screen. Just realized even this Topic it's spelled wrong

                          Rekonq has that feature by default, though it is not stable in Lucid

                          The welcome page IS a custom page created by Kubuntu iirc, the 'stock' one has the same sort of file-browser links as the old version.

                            I don't get that arrow on either my Hardy machine or my Jaunty machine.
