Probably because it's still buggy. It will work for a while, and after that will only provide an empty list. KDE 4.5 is supposed to fix this- I'm looking forward to it!

thare are sevral post's around hear on this if you seartch it you may find clues.

the SnowHog has ben sucsesful in geting it to work resonabley well on one of his boxes.

one of the keys I think is to limit the seartch and indexing locations to just whare you may nead to look for stuff insted of evryware as default.

I just turn it off as the locate comand dose enuff for me..............but thats me :P

KDE 4.4.5 here. I have Nepomuk and Strigi active, with just my home directory tree marked for indexing/searching (Nepomuk/Strigi Server Configuration > File Indexing). Both the Nepomuk Semantic Desktop and Strigi Desktop File Indexer (Nepomuk/Strigi Server Configuration > Basic Settings) are marked., and 50 MB (the default?) for Memory Usage (Nepomuk/Strigi Server Configuration > Advanced Setting).

I have had no issues with Nepomuk or Strigi - none. Maybe it's just me, but I doubt it.

well I just turned it back on for the first time in a wile and for shure the first time sence moving to KDE-4.4.5 .........and it is doing just fine it seams.

I'm shure I had it set to index the hole system befor but when I was looking things over befor firing it up onley my /home was set so I left it like that .

and so far I havent even notesed it's runing.................well that is onece it was done the inital indexing that took abought 10-20 min. 94Gig's worth.

gess I'll leave it on for a wile and see what happens
