I just did a massive update and kde-full installation. After reboot, I see that my desktop wallpaper is blank. Right click and choose Desktop Activity settings, I can see that the preview window stays blank regardless of wallpaper I choose. Can anyone help me?

Re: Desktop wallpaper keeps blank
On my system, there are several things to enter in order to select a desktop wallpaper:
*Type: I use "Image", but there are other choices.
*Positioning: This depends on the Type and (for images) the characteristics of the image.
*Color: This refers to area around the image. Since my desktop wallpaper images tend to be astronomical, I use Black, but there are (256)^3 possibilities.
*Then you can choose any of the pre-installed images, any appropriate image that you might have downloaded from elsewhere or generated yourself (via the open button). Finally, you can click on "Get New Wallpapers" which, I believe, takes you to kdelook.org where there are many wallpaper images that you can choose. When you click on one of these, I believe it is downloaded from the kdelook site.
What happens in the preview window depends on which of these choices you have made.
I download prospective wallpaper images from various sites. I then store them in a directory on my computer after resizing and cropping them appropriately with Digikam. So I click on the button labeled "Open...", navigate to the proper directory, click on the image of my choice, and I'm good to go. Since I typically use 8 desktops, this takes a while after a fresh install.
