    Can't change my user image

In System Settings > General > About Me, I'm not allowed to change (select) an image (click to change your image). When clicking on the blank image button the system responds:

"Your administrator has disallowed changing your image."

Hmm. I am the administrator, and I never told myself I couldn't change my image. What's going on?

try Alt-F2 "kdesudo dbus-launch systemsettings" and then report back how it worked, please and thank you.

Did that. When accessing System Settings > General > About Me in this manner, it shows that 'root' is accessing the application, and not 'paul'.

AFAIK, when putting images on the greeter, it would seem appropriate to have root doing the task. It seems like "expected behavior", from that perspective.

        EDIT: http://docs.kde.org/stable/en/kdebas...uring-kdm.html

See the "Note" under Login Manager.

Except that that you can't 'select' a user to change an image on. Once you access About Me after having launched kdesudo dbus-launch systemsettings, instead of being 'you' with super-user privileges, you are instead 'root' and acting therefore, on root's settings.

I'm away from my Kubuntu system atm, but if memory serves, I've never accessed the user image thing through "about me". I believe, in "Login Manager" you click the "Users" tab, and highlight your user name on the list on the left side of the window, and then click the place where the image goes on the right side of the window, and browse to the image that you want to place there.

              Hello Snowhog,

I'd encountered this problem long ago and I can confirm that Dibl is right. In login manager and under "users" tab, at the right of the screen you should set user picture/avatar/image sources to "user, system". This should allow you to change your user image.

Thank you! That did it. I had previously set my image there with just "user" marked. I am now able to set an image in About Me.

so wait a second, after you set it in SS->login->users to "users, system", you can then change it in the "about me" section. how is any new user going to figure that out.? i would think the default should be changed to "user, system" so that people can change their user icons.

I was able to set a user Icon/Image everywhere else before I made this change. It was only in the About Me that I was not able to set/select an image.
