I've installed the new Kde 4.5 RC 1 on top of a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.04.
So far it runs nicely, but there are a few minor issues:
- The Login Manager in systemsettings doesn't work. Every time I try to apply the settings, I get an error message (something about not being able to create a new kdmrc). Kdm itself works without problems, and if you edit kdmrc in /etc/kde4/kdm manually, setting are used as they should.
- Kde doesn't remember my wallpaper. Every time I log in, it presents me the default wallpaper, Etais, not my custom wallpaper, which is located in the Pictures folder in my home directory.
- I can't change the widget style for the root account (kdesudo systemsettings > Appearance). Custom colours work fine, but I can't set a widget style other than Oxygen. I can select a widget style from the drop down list, and the preview is shown properly with my custom colours, but when I press "Apply", the style is not applied - instead the widget style remains stuck at Oxygen.
- Synaptic ignores the colours and style I've set up for Gnome apps. Other Gnome apps (e.g. Gimp) use my colours and style just fine, but Synaptic uses colours and style of its own, making it look quite ugly.
As I said, it's nothing major, but I'd still be grateful if these issues could be fixed.
If I find more issues, I'll post them here as well.
