Re: Kde 4.5 RC 1 on Ubuntu 10.04 issues

And no /usr/bin/system-config-printer? Or no /usr/share/system-config-printer/system-config-printer.py?

      Both QtCurve
Simply install the package "qtcurve" in Synaptic, and it will automaticall pull the Kde style, the Kde window decorations and the Gnome style.
The QtCurve that comes with (K)ubuntu is quite old (1.0), for the current version (1.4.3) add the following ppa repository:
      ppa:falk-t-j/lucid

To apply my QtCurve settings, use the attached .qtcurve file (remove the .txt from the end) and go to Appearance > Style, select "QtCurve", click on "Configure" and there on "Import" to import the .qtcurve file.

Ok, I can try that later. I'll leave it at that now, as replacing the Ethais wallpaper has the nice side effect that I now also have my wallpaper as the login background (If you want to replace the Ethais wallpaper as well, pick the proper size to replace and make sure you save it as .png)

This bug has been reported here already:
      http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3112599.0

Have you tried to actually print something? I found that it's only the item in systemsettings that's broken. Printing still works fine for me, and configuring the printer from within an application works as well.

Only issue I've found so far is that I can't import my keys into KGPG. Anyone else experienced that?

Re: Kde 4.5 RC 1 on Ubuntu 10.04 issues

Just looked for myself, I do have the following two:

                /usr/bin/system-config-printer
                /usr/bin/system-config-printer-applet

The .py file hower (/usr/bin/system-config-printer.py) doesn't exist

Another tiny bug I found: when waking the display after it went into suspend, compositing is turned off. It can be easily enabled again in Desktop Effects.
Workaround: deactivate Suspend for the monitor in the Powersaving options.

Re: Kde 4.5 RC 1 on Ubuntu 10.04 issues

One more bug: Superkaramba is broken.
I launched Superkaramba, downloaded a new widget with "Get new stuff" and then tried adding it to the desktop. This only resulted in a small pink semi-transparent rectangle in the upper left corner and Superkaramba crashing - clicking the close button brings up a dialog that say that it is not responding, so I have to terminate it.
I've downloaded several other Superkaramba widgets with "Get new stuff", but it's always the same, Superkaramba instantly crashes when I try to add them to the desktop.

                  Can anyone confirm?

Re: Kde 4.5 RC 1 on Ubuntu 10.04 issues

The device notifier widget is quite buggy for me. It shows me a very confusing list of devices -- there're multiple entries for some devices; some of them are without names, some without icons. It's especially bad when showing all devices (not just removable devices).

And the classic launcher menu's optional and potentially very useful "Computer" sub-menu lists removable as well as non-removable devices and places (i.e. "Dolphin bookmarks") under the "Places" header, and places only under the "Removable Storage" header (where they don't work, selecting one doesn't do anything). But that's never worked, not in any Kubuntu/KDE 4 version I've used.

I have a K3b issue. The ripping bit stops at the last track on three cds i have tried to rip. Nero works.
the last track ends up part complete and the programme crashes. anyone any ideas?

@mudlark: Simply upgrade to the newest version of K3b (2.0.80), that will solve your issue
It's in this PPA, it's a really safe PPA:

Ok, ran it with "superkaramba --fallback" from the commandline, but still the same
Looking at the terminal window, I now have countless lines of the following, all exactly the same:

superkaramba(4732) EventListener::eventFilter: User of KWidgetItemDelegate should not delete widgets created by createWidgets!

At the very bottom, I have the following line:

*** glibc detected *** superkaramba: malloc(): memory corruption (fast): 0x0000000002b9ffb1 ***

...and with that, Superkaramba is crashed again, and I have to terminate it.

thank you young fellow my lad, it works again. However, the k3b settings crashes.

The "printer configuration" on "system settings2 doesn't work, but the printer still works......the printer still appears on CUPS
