This isn't exactly restricted to Lucid Lynx, but since I finished my migration to ext4 with Lucid Lynx I thought it best here. If the mods determine it should go elsewhere - OK.
As I stated above I have finished my migration to the ext4 file system. All of my Linux partitions (except swap) are now formatted ext4. That is 4 ext4 partitions on 3 hard disks (83 GB, 315 GB, 186 GB and 153 GB).
When I booted today, I got a notice that my file systems were being checked. From past experience with ext3 I was expecting to wait several minutes, probably 4 to 5.
I was very pleasantly surprised when the check completed in seconds, well under 1 minute.
ext4 is a big improvement in that respect. Some of the improvement may be attributed to my switch from 32 bit to 64 bit, don't know.
