I'm having a problem with Workrave sounds. The Workrave wav files and music in general work in Amarok, and other apps such as Kontact and Firefox play sounds; but Workrave will not play sounds during breaks or in its preferences box. I know Workrave can start without the sounds check boxes checked, but all of mine are checked and enabled. Workrave's preferences volume usually works at 0%, but moving it up and down, all the way to 100 doesn't make a difference. The sounds were working in Ubuntu, but this is a clean install since removing ubuntu-desktop and installing kubuntu-desktop didn't give me a full KDE with a panel, the ability to move apps, etc. Although Mepis sounds very tempting, it's a slightly extreme solution to one little problem after a couple days worth of configurations. I've also asked for help on the Workrave mailing list and Ubuntu forum. I've only seen one other person with this problem, so I guess it's rare or a maybe new bug. Why someone packages wav files for GNU/Linux in the first place is beyond me unless it's laziness.

Re: Workrave sounds
Hmmmmm -- it says "for GNU/Linux":

I wonder if it is really packaged for "Gnome/GNU/Linux"? If you are running a Kubuntu system, then you are using "KDE/GNU/Linux", not "Gnome/GNU/Linux". :P
Moreover, if you install Mepis, then you will still be using "KDE/GNU/Linux" and not "Gnome/GNU/Linux".
Did you try it on Ubuntu? Did it work correctly? If it worked correctly on the Gnome desktop, and has problems on the KDE desktop, then you've probably got your answer.

Re: Workrave sounds
If I may suggest the usage or RSIBreak, it is built on, for and with KDE technology... ;-)

Currently, the program runs on GNU/Linux and Microsoft Windows. The GNU/Linux version depends on GnomeWindows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.
