    k9copy help [odd addendum]

I have used this package since maybe Kubuntu 6.10:

Recently I have noticed that it is not seemingly shrinking DVD's in Lucid?

I have it set to 4000MB, as usual to get it onto a DVD-5 BUT, the generated iso image is much larger than that (Dual layer DVD-9) ... in fact, larger than the original DVD?!

Anyone else experiencing this odd issue? The last generated iso crashed my computer, creating a 14.7 GB file, which was the maximum amount of space. /tmp/kde-usr/k9copy had 18.9 GB of space used?!

It seems not be be shrinking, but rather inflating the DVD.

[edit] It must be something about the encoding. I tried the DVD on a Karmic machine where I know the compression works properly and it still gave me a > 18 GB iso image. BIZARRE.

It's a quirk of mencoder. k9copy once only used FFMPEG, but since mencoder became the default option, that problem has appeared. Just set your target size about 12-15% less.
