Just out of curiosity I did a benchmark:
http://www2.webkit.org/perf/sunspide...sunspider.html
On FF 4.0 nightly:
http://nightly.mozilla.org/
against FF 3.6.3 (4) and google chrome stable.
FF is still very much beta but acting stable and faaaast.
Most add-ons don't work but some do.
Since I am also testing qt4.7 and kde4.5 I decided to do it in both environments.
Here is a synopsis:
Firefox 4.0 Nightly (31.05.10) KDE4.5 Beta Kubuntu 10.04
============================================
RESULTS (means and 95% confidence intervals)
--------------------------------------------
Total: 1645.4ms +/- 1.0%
Firefox 4.6.3 KDE4.5 Beta Kubuntu 10.04
============================================
RESULTS (means and 95% confidence intervals)
--------------------------------------------
Total: 2288.2ms +/- 2.0%
Chrome Stable KDE4.5 Kubuntu 10.04
============================================
RESULTS (means and 95% confidence intervals)
--------------------------------------------
Total: 1061.4ms +/- 3.2%
Firefox 4.0 Nightly (31.05.10) KDE4.4.3 Kubuntu 10.04
============================================
RESULTS (means and 95% confidence intervals)
--------------------------------------------
Total: 2055.4ms +/- 19.4%
Firefox 3.6.4 KDE4.4.3 Kubuntu 10.04
============================================
RESULTS (means and 95% confidence intervals)
--------------------------------------------
Total: 2536.0ms +/- 1.8%
Chrome Stable KDE4.4.3 Kubuntu 10.04
===========================================
RESULTS (means and 95% confidence intervals)
--------------------------------------------
Total: 1623.2ms +/- 25.3%
Looks like FF is quickly creeping up on Chrome.
