    Description:
This plasmoid provides a way to mount/unmount devices from fstab (e.g. network shares), show free space and open mount point location in a file manager. It is fully configurable...

well, it doesn't seem to be available from the repositories. It looks like you'll have to download the tar file from the link to kde-look.org in Rog131's post. Then you'll need to extract it and follow the instructions in the README file in the new "mountoid" directory. You may also need to install build-dependencies with you package manager before following the instructions to make and make install your plasmoid.

        Hope that was clear.

P.S. if you've never configured or installed anything from a tarball before you may want to read up a bit on it first. A Google search should give you some basic tutorials and get you started out with a better understanding of what you're actually doing.

The developer is offering source code and the Mandriva rpm.

          Source

The source need to be compiled before it is useful.

The Mountoid source has as the "README" file with the build instructions.

More of the compiling > FAQ: Installing from source

          Binaries

The Ubuntu is offering Personal Package Archives for Ubuntu:
Personal Package Archives (PPA) allow you to upload Ubuntu source packages to be built and published as an apt repository by Launchpad...
The PPA repositories have a search engine > Show PPAs matching:

The search could find existing binaries or then it could fail.

Now it is finding > Show PPAs matching: mountoid.

Some of those seem to be for the Karmic. The may or may not work with the Lucid. ( > Topic: Plasma, plasmoids and short how to recover)

One more (for the Lucid and Karmic) > PPA for Rog131 >> Package name contains: mountoid

Re: I want a Hard Drive Plasmoid like this one

            Hey Rog -

I d/l'd and compiled this widget but am having trouble.

I'm thinking I used the wrong KDELIBS path but here's what I have so far:

            >make and make install produced no fatal errors.
            >files did not get distributed, they all stayed in the build subdirectory.
            >I managed to get the icons, .so, and .desktop files in their correct locations (see below)
            >Mountoid showed up in the "Add Widget" panel
            >Adding the widget to the desktop results in a red X in black box with the following message:
This object could not be created for the following reason:

Could not find requested component mountoid
I discovered intended file locations from a created file called "install_manifest.txt"
            Code:
            /lib/kde4/plasma_applet_mountoid.so
            /share/kde4/services/plasma-applet-mountoid.desktop
            /share/icons/hicolor/64x64/apps/mountoid.png
            /share/icons/hicolor/64x64/apps/os_macos.png
            /share/icons/hicolor/64x64/apps/os_winxp.png
These all went into /usr/ and gave me the above results.

I think the final missing pieces are two files called "mountoid.moc" and "devices.moc" but I don't know where they're supposed to go and I didn't want to start flinging copies of them all over the place...

Should I wipe and start over or is there a shortcut?

EDIT: I decided I had nothing to lose, so I ran cmake again with -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr ..

            Worked like a charm!

EDIT: I decided I had nothing to lose, so I ran cmake again with -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr ..
As you noticed the Kubuntu KDE prefix is the /usr:

              Code:
              kde4-config --prefix
              /usr

              man kde4-config
              NAME
kde4-config - Prints KDE installation paths

              SYNOPSIS
kde4-config [--expandvars] [--prefix] [--exec-prefix] [--libsuffix] [--localprefix] [--version] [--types]
[--path type] [--userpath type] [--install type]

              DESCRIPTION

kde4-config is a command line program used to retrieve information about KDE installation or user paths.

Use this program to determine where the various aspects of the KDE installation reside on your system.
