    Kontact: where are my contacts?

    Following the instructions on this and other forums, I finally managed to put Kontact and Akonadi to work but, even after adding akonadi to KDE Resources, I don't have my old contacts lists in KAddressBook. However, they appear normally when I select recipients in a KMail new message.

    How do I "transfer" my old contacts lists to akonadi?

    TIA,

    Hello Pipoca!

    Unfortunately I can't give you advice on that, I am just trying to learn from your experience as I have a very similar problem (my contacts are in the KAdressbook but cannot be used anywhere else, e.g. in the Kmail composer with less than copy-and-paste which is really annoying; I have posted a question on that topic myself).

    So:
    Could you describe how you configured akonadi, and how to add it to KDE-resources. Step-by-step would be appreciated byu a Newbie.....

    Thanks.

      Re: Kontact: where are my contacts?

      Hi Merlin,

      Please forgive my ignorance, but I'm a newbie in this matter too...

      I - Akonadi

      1. Quit Kontact;
      2. K Menu->Applications->Utilities->Akonadi System Tray;
      3. Right click Akonadi icon in system tray->Start Akonadi;

      II - KDE Resources

      1. System Settings->Advanced->KDE Resources;
      2. Click the "Add" button;
      3. Select "Akonadi Address Book" from the list and click "Ok";
      4. Click "Ok" on the Resources window;
      5. Click "Apply" on the System Settings window.
      6. Start Kontact.

      That's it. Everything seems fine, But KAddressBook still doesn't work for me.

      HTH,

      Pipoca
