    No contacts in Kontact Manager

    Hi,
    I managed to sync my HTC HD2 to Kubuntu Lucid. Under "Contacts" though I don't see any contacts. However when I go to "Mail/New Message" and "Select" in "TO" field I can see all my contacts in the 'address book'. I don't know how do I make them appear in "Contacts".

    Calendar view is fine.

    Thanks

      Re: No contacts in Kontact Manager

      Seems to be a common problem with no one really knowing how to solve (HOPE I'M; WRONG??).

      Snowhog mentioned in a similar thread (that I started) that both Akonadi and Kmail have to be configured "the right way" and Akonadi has to be added to "KDE-resources".
      Unfortunately I have yet not found any description how to do all that.

      Let's hope for a solution soon.

      PS: The contacts you see under "to - select" in Kmail should just be the ones you have used previously, that means, you typed them straigth into the "to" field before.
      No connection to the KAddressbook though..... as far as I understand?

        Re: No contacts in Kontact Manager

        Hi Merlin,
        Thanks for posting. Much appreciated.
        The contacts in "to -select" are not the ones I selected or typed previously they are actually the ones synced. I can see all my contacts there. However, they are also supposed to be in Kontacts as contacts, but they are not. Now I'm very much new at this Linux world and I don't know how to do even the simplest tasks unlike I do them on Windows OS.

        Any help is much appreciated.

        Thanks.

          Hi Merlin,

          Last week I answered your question above:

          I - Akonadi

          1. Quit Kontact;
          2. K Menu->Applications->Utilities->Akonadi System Tray;
          3. Right click Akonadi icon in system tray->Start Akonadi;

          II - KDE Resources

          1. System Settings->Advanced->KDE Resources;
          2. Click the "Add" button;
          3. Select "Akonadi Address Book" from the list and click "Ok";
          4. Click "Ok" on the Resources window;
          5. Click "Apply" on the System Settings window.
          6. Start Kontact.
          However, so far I'm still stuck on this problem too.

                  Re: No contacts in Kontact Manager

                  Now everything seems to be working fine, but, when Akonadi starts, the following message pops up:

                  Title: "Mail Dispatcher Agent - Akonadi"
                  Message: "Could not access the outbox folder (Unknown error. (Could not fetch root collection of resource akonadi_maildir_resource_0))."

                  I click Ok, start Kontact, and all features seem available.
