I have a 24 inch monitor with a native resolution of 1920x1080. I set that as my resolution in System Settings, but when I reboot the system, it always reverts to 1024x768. There doesn't appear to be any other way to save my settings. Am I missing something?

Kubuntu not remembering my resolution settings
I am relatively new to Linux, but quite experienced with DOS and Windows. I'm comfortable editing things like fstab, etc., but I need specific instructions of what files to edit and what to add.<br /><br />My system is Kubuntu 10.10, using KDE 4.5.1.Tags: None

Do you have an ATI video card? If 'yes,' see Re: Display settings aren't savedWindows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

I think the proprietary NVidia driver will work, but it isn't very smart about my dual display. I have my TV hooked up as a second output, and the open source driver in Kubuntu is much smarter about it than the proprietary one.I am relatively new to Linux, but quite experienced with DOS and Windows. Re: Kubuntu not remembering my resolution settings
There's near a 100 posts on here about this topic.
Either build an xorg.conf or set your xrandr commands to run at boot up.

Re: Kubuntu not remembering my resolution settings
Well, based on your original post - you should start here:
http://www.kubuntuforums.net/forums/...php?topic=4216
http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...0963#msg220963
then when you've read and understand those...
Using the keyword "resolution" I came up with 65 pages of results. Obviously, not all will apply. Here's some that might from just the first page of results:

I apologize for not being willing to do more of your homework for you. I will refrain from giving you any more "irresponsible" advice, good luck.

Re: Kubuntu not remembering my resolution settings
I have had this problem with Kubuntu now with every version since 8.1 I don't worry about it anymore, just go into settings on startup & change the resolution to the required value as it only takes a few seconds.
It seems to be a Kubuntu problem as other distros I have installed on my computer such as Mandriva, Ubuntu and CentOS to name a few have all been OK with the same version of the nVidia driver.
It would be nice to find a fix but just deal with it !

Re: Kubuntu not remembering my resolution settings
Beckfield, try generating a new xorg.conf. First - back up your original one (in case something goes wrong). Start nvidia-settings . Choose "X server display configuration" and change display resolution to desired one. Choose "Save to X configuration file" button. Replace your old xorg.conf with the new one. Restart X server and hopefully it will work.
