lucid lynx (LTS): can't play mov movies

hello everybody,

problem: I can't play mov movies. With some players though, I can hear the sound.

environment:
- lucid lynx (LTS) on a dell XT2 notebook
- non-free-codecs installed
- mediubuntu software sources enabled

Is there anything basic I am overseeing? Any help is mostly appreciated.

Install gecko media player which includes the quicktime plugin.

vlc play them too
