Digikam 1.2.0 - Where is the red eye tool??!!

    Hello all,

I must be missing something incredibly obvious, but I can't seem to find the redeye removal action/plugin for Digikam:

-The docs for digikam don't say anything about it, or they mention non-existent menu options.
-The forums for digikam are deserted, so I can't post anything there.

Is there something I haven't installed? Some menu option I missed?

    Thanks!

    My docs show this:

Remove Red Eyes in a Photograph
Red eyes are caused when the camera flashlight is used to take photographs of people. The red is the reflection from the back of the eye which can be seen because the pupil cannot react quickly enough to the flash. By the way, with a separate flash light the red eye effect is less likely because of the different viewing angle of flash and lens. You can correct some of the worst effect of Red Eye by selecting the area of the eye on the photograph, in the same way as described for cropping above. Then select Enhance->Red Eye Reduction.
    How it works
Set the preview mode to your liking
The Sensitivity setting adjusts the amount of red eyes removal (agressive or not)
The Smooth slider sets the blurring of the area that has been darkened to render the pupil more natural
The Color Tint sets a custom colorization for the pupil. If you want blue eyes instead of dark ones, here you can do it
The Tint Level adjusts the luminosity of set pupil color
BUT, the "Red Eye" option under the "Enhance" menu is NOT there. TIme for a bug report.

Workaround: Very nice Red Eye option is in Gwenview, IMO even better than in Gimp.

Hey thanks for mentioning Gwenview's red eye reduction, it does a good job.
I'm actually surprised that Digikam has come this far without that feature.

Actually I am surprised that Lucid is not worse than Karmic at least for me. When I saw that the best video player in Hardy Kaffeine has come without subtitles support in Intrepid, now I am not surprised about Red Eye at all.

The red eye tool is in Digikam and works. It simply isn't in the menu/toolbar but can be added.

              1) Open the image editor

              2) Right click on the toolbar

              3) Select Configure Toolbars

              4) In the drop down menu select the "enhance" menu

              5) drag the red eye tool to the right hand side.

              Save the settings.

Now in the toolbar you will have the red eye tool available.

                Doesn't work for me.

I can add every one of the tools along with "red eye" and ALL of them show in the "enchance" menu EXCEPT the "red eye". To make matters worse, once I add a feature it cannot be removed from the menu display, regardless of how I try to manipulate the menu config tool. But "red eye" is a no show.

It does work, it puts them in the toolbar not in the enhance menu.

If you go to the right side of the editor window and click the little arrow to expand the toolbar they are there.

I quickly created a little video showing how it is done.

                        Ah, you're right.

Silly me. I assumed that the config setting to enhance the "enhance" menu would add or remove items on that menu option.

Nice video. Your openSUSE 11.1 works nicely. What hardware are you running it on?

Thats not 11.1 in the video, that is Kubuntu 10.04 with a custom patched kernel on my Toshiba laptop.

My desktops all run opensuse 11.2. My site needs updating, I'll get around to it eventually, probably when opensuse 11.3 is released.
