[SOLVED] [but I don't know why] Akonadi, kontact, what do you want from me????

I am having issues with kontact and akonadi. I installed lucid fresh as a new user and checked kontact. It worked fine and akonadi started fine. I set my home directory to my old home directory in order to preserve alot of personal data. Start kontact and akonadi no longer works. What is it in the home directory that breaks akonadi and can I delete that without deleting all of my other settings?

Also, pressing send in kmail crashes kmail. I don't know if this is akonadi or something else.

Both the akonadi and the crashing on "Send" parts of the problem were solved here in POST#2:

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...hlight=akonadi

The relevant code if you don't want to click through:

    sudo aa-complain mysqld
    sudo aa-complain mysqld-akonadi
    sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor reload

Disclaimer: I don't know why this works or if it is a long term solution (I haven't rebooted since doing this), so buyer beware...

Soemone who knows & can explain what the mentioned code
      sudo aa-complain mysqld
      sudo aa-complain mysqld-akonadi
      sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor reload

      actually DOES?

Would be nice to know.......before just testing and -maybe- loose something I didn't want to loose.....?

Just an update. I still don't know what this did, but akonadi is still working even after reboots and logout/logins. Thus it seems stable on my system.

I am also having akonadi problems, now in Kubuntu 10.10 (I think I've had them on and off ever since KDE-4 was released). So I ran a search and ended up here.

Oh well, the lines above are just telling AppArmor not to throw errors for mysqld and mysqld-akonadi. This is really a workaround.

For more, hit "[alt-f2] and type man:aa-complain"
