[SOLVED] Sound issues with Flashplayer or gnome based audio programmes in Lucid

I had sound issues with Lucid primarily Flashplayer and any Gnome based programmes like "Rhythmbox" (which I like because one can browse internet based radio stations).

All other KDE based stuff worked well Such as Dragon Player, Amrock and general notifications.
I tried to reinstall both FireFox & Flash but nothing, I checked the sound driver HDA Intel (ALC887) and Jack audio connection kit. Both tested fine with KDE stuff but still no luck with Flash and Rhythmbox.
So I decided to search out here what was wrong and saw a post which reminded me of Pulse. So in a terminal I
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install pulseaudio
and let that install then rebooted and I now have sound in my web browser again and can use rhythmbox.

I installed pulseaudio and rebooted, like you say, and now not only do I still have no sound in gnome apps, I don't have sound in ones that used to work fine before... like amsn.
Pure KDE apps still have sound, though.

EDIT: Removing pulseaudio immediately brought things to how they were before.

I have the same problem -- no sound in Youtube under Firefox, which I suppose to be Flash based.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled flashplugin-installer and flashplugin-nonfree, but to no avail. I did not reboot in between. Should I have done so? I really do not like rebooting, not because it is so much work but because it reminds me of another system which has to be booted far too frequently...

Why do we use those two packages instead of adobe-flashplugin?

It seems that these are two different issues after all. Flash-based things have no problem playing sound on my system, but gnome-based programs do. For example, youtube in firefox is fine but a mail notification extension I've installed isn't.

look I am having the same issue, installed the package and still get no sound.
Never had this problem with Ubuntu 8. only trouble is I can only connect to the net with Ubuntu (actually Kubuntu) 10.4 now.
So I have essentially traded homeschooling my child for sound.
The post says solved, but I don't see where it is solved.
