Q: How to disable tooltips on the panel?

So, is there still no way to disable those huge annoying KDE4 tooltips in the panel?

Hmmmm.... right click on the K, Panel options -> Panel settings
Don't see anything. Am I looking in the wrong place?

This guy can't find it either

EDIT: There's a bug report here
So it looks like no is the answer still? Any ideas? They're huge and annoying.

At work - not at my home PC. I've seen the setting - it's a check box. If it isn't in the Panel Settings, then it's in System Settings someplace. If you don't figure it out yourself, or someone else doesn't provide the answer, I'll look when I get home and post back.

I've unchecked every 'show tooltips' box I can find.
Nothing in the Panel and nothing I can find in System Settings.

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to turn off...

System Settings>Look & Feel>Appearance>Style>Fine Tuning>Toolbars



If you mean the Thumbnails on the Taskbar

System Settings>Look & Feel>Desktop>All Effects>Taskbar Thumbnails


If you mean the tooltips in the Task Manager - right click on an empty space in the Task Manager and you'll see Show Tooltips - uncheck it

Unchecked. I have Enable desktop effects unchecked anyway.

as far as i know there is no way to disable them,

oshunluvr, hover over your panel near the K menu u will see the tooltips he's speaking of.

System Settings>Look & Feel>Appearance>Style>Fine Tuning>Toolbars

<- moves the text of toolbars NOT tooltips.

System Settings>Look & Feel>Desktop>All Effects>Taskbar Thumbnails

<- this disables thumnails for running programs.

doing this will also disable taskbar thumbnails since there tooltips. but ONLY over the task area not the whole panel.

Yes, sorry, they're gone from the Task Manager but still everywhere else
