[RESOLVED] Software In stallation Error

I was attempting to install open vpn and got a failure message. Now I am unable to get it removed, and every time I try to install or uninstall software I get a failure error. The error says "A problem that we were not expecting has occurred. Please report this bug with the error description." And all that the description says is "SECVPN"

Any assistance would be great.

How did you attempt the installation - what package manager did you use?

kpackagekit - sucks. Don't use it. Really.

What is the name of the package you tried to install - the exact name?

That's okay.

Open a console. Fastest way: Alt+F2 and type: konsole

Then type:

sudo apt-get update
sudo dpkg --configure -a

Let's see if this finishes the install that failed with kpackagekit.

Thanks for the reply. Here is what I got:

so is apt the accepted way to install software still? Is there a GUI of APT that I can install instead?

It looks strongly like the secvpn package isn't built for Kubuntu, or at least, not for this version of Kubuntu. Where did you get the package from? You said you tried to install via kpackagekit, but that would have pulled in the correct package for this version of Kubuntu. Did you download the package from the 'net - a .deb file??

no, could it be because I am on a 64 bit distro of Kubuntu?

Let's see what your /etc/apt/sources.list looks like.

cat /etc/apt/sources.list

I just got it installed. I decided to format and install the 32 bit version of Kubuntu, as Citrix does not have a functioning ICA client for 64 bit Linux. Thanks for all of your help.
