    No sound from any web browser

    Installed Lucid Lynx NE on my eeepc on Thursday - a fast and painless experience. Have just stumbled on my first problem though - I am not getting any sound when using bbc iplayer. The sound device is working fine in Amarok, Dragon Player etc...

    Any ideas? Thanks

    Update : It's not just iplayer - I'm not getting sound from any web browser

    Hi,

    Not sure if this is the problem, but, what browser are you using? I had a problem where I couldn't hear anything through bbc iplayer. I use Firefox.

    You will have the latest Firefox with this install (3.6), but do you have flash plugin?

    After I upgraded to 3.6 and installed Flash plugin BBC iplayer worked properly.

      Have tried Chrome, Firefox & Konquerer. The flash plugin is installed (otherwise video wouldn't work)

        I find sound to be flakey at best in Lucid. Otherwise it seems quite polished. Some of my firefox plugins are supposed to make notification sounds but do not. Flash does give audio thankfully. Using 64 bit.

        My soundcard is notably more quiet in Lucid than in XP. I have alsamixer set pcm and pcm2 to 100 as suggested by a user and it helped a bit. It is a laptop so it doesn't createba huge issue for me.

            No audio in FF here either. Sound is fine in Amarok and DragonPlayer. Back to Windoze for me.

                  I don't know if this is related but the problem I have is that upon launch of firefox, sound in flash works typically for an hour or a couple hours then stops working abruptly (sometimes in the middle of watching a video) and I need to relaunch firefox.
                  Very annoying. I have the 64bit version of ubuntu but I had the same problem in previous 32bit versions.
