Firefox crashes constantly since upgrading to 10.04

Since I upgraded to 10.04 today, certain web pages are causing Firefox to crash completely. I know previous versions had problems with npviewer, but this seems to be something different. Running Firefox in safe mode makes no difference. Here's the output I got from running Firefox with the -g option:

    Code:
    will@keta:~$ firefox -g
    sh /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.3/run-mozilla.sh /usr/bin/gdb /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.3/firefox-bin -x /tmp/mozargs.Uee3i2

Re: Firefox crashes constantly since upgrading to 10.04

So after doing a little research, I came across this page:
    http://www.ubuntugeek.com/fix-for-fi...-in-hardy.html
I remember during the Lucid install it saying that a bunch of lib* packages would be deleted because they were obsolete. So I tried to reinstall...
    Code:
    will@keta:~$ sudo apt-get install libflashsupport
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
Package libflashsupport is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package libflashsupport has no installation candidate
Next I tried downloading an old package I found: http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/amd...pport/download
When I try to install this package though, I get an error message:
    Code:
Error: Breaks existing package 'flashplugin-installer' conflict: libflashsupport ()
So am I just stuck with a broken Firefox, or is there some other way around this problem?

Re: Firefox crashes constantly since upgrading to 10.04

After upgrading to 10.04, I was having trouble with Firefox crashing as it loaded bing.com (my homepage). I was hoping somebody would respond to your post so I could fix my Firefox.

Nobody did, so I tried opening Firefox through konsole and it printed that it was loading libmoon and then seg faulted. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Moonlight (and maybe Firefox, I forget) and now it seems to work.

I don't know if you have Moonlight installed, but maybe there's some plugin that's common to all the sites that are causing Firefox to crash for you?

I don't have Moonlight installed, but I did try removing and reinstalling Firefox. It made no difference.

Are you running 32 or 64-bit Kubuntu? (mine's 64, and I think the problem may not exist in 32-bit)

Re: Firefox crashes constantly since upgrading to 10.04

              Hi,

I had the same problem since yesterday evening, after Upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04.
Now it's working, first, I fully uninstalled firefox from the Synaptic Packet Manager to remove configuration files, too (backup your profile if needed).
After that, the firefox directory in /usr/share and /usr/lib was still there, so I renamed it.
I started firefox from the extracted tarball-file from http://www.mozilla.com.
(Extract directory "firefox", go to "firefox" by Terminal and type ./firefox)

It still didn't work, but I had a new message line in the terminal, which called the application:
"Attempting to load the system libmoon"
(But the Gdk errors, which appeared before in terminal, weren't there any more)

After I saw this line, I removed "libmoon" from Synaptic Packet Manager and after that, it works

So, there may have been several causes to crash, since the Upgrade.

Well I'm not 100 pct sure if my problem is the same - Firefox for me crashes when clicking links in certain websites. And when it does it crashes Plasma altogether. I see a bunch of txt fly across the screen and then I am taken back to the Plasma log-in.

It is 100 pct repeatable on certain websites.

I have had this crash --same symptoms-- where the whole system goes down and then you get to the login screen -- twice now. Since I have been working both times I haven't yet tried to recreate it but will. I was thinking it was from opening so many tabs since that is the thing common to both times.

Once I am "off the clock" I will recreate and then start looking into the fix. (I have to use Firefox for running Citrix to get to my job so Konquerer is not an option for me).
