Solved: mostly anyway: update-notifier-kde "no new upgrades available" problem

I tried upgrading to 10.04 from 9.10 today.

    update-notifier-kde -d

    says

    "no new upgrades available"

Kpackage and Synaptic don't see the lucid upgrade either.

I see other posts where folks have installed KDE from other sources. I have not I did update my system today to the most recent 9.10 packages but that's all. Help about KDE says I'm running KDE 4.3.2. Not sure how to proceed from here...

It turns out that I had Update manager set to only show LTS updates. Silly me, I thought Lucid was a LTS update. Anyway as soon as I changed the selection to Normal Updates, update-notifier-kde saw the update and upgraded perfectly.

Interesting, as Lucid 10.04 is an LTS release.
