    No network available running LiveCD

    Hi,

I'm new here and dunno if is better creating a new topic than using this one but I'm having problem with network in 10.04 too.

I have a ubuntu 9.10 on my netook and I want to install kubuntu 10.04 netbook remix on my eee pc 1005ha , but when I try the livecd the netbook can't access any wireless network. In case I used the lshw and discovered that my wireless network card is the AR9285. And I checked that there isn't drive to install or enable on 'Hardware Drivers'. So I need help =(.

What kind of information can I provide to find out the problem?

    Thanks and Best Regards,

    ---------------------------------------------
    Update:
There isn't any network access (on ifconfig returned just the 'lo').

I didnt see that moved. Here is what I reply:

      Thx I read.

My problem is a bit different. I dont have even the ethernet connection (eth0) so i can't access the internet from the netbook =/ . In my opinion It might be a new bug, since the older version (ubuntu remix 9.10) work. Both kernels have the ath9k (the driver module) so I don't know what can I do. I will look something on the system log to post here to describe the problem better.

I forgot to mention that I tried compiling like says here http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/ath9k but the livecd doesn't have soem of the necessary packages to do it. And the ifconfig just return the 'lo'.

I saw in the log that: the kernel found that my network was AR9285 and then the NetworkManager found the driver ath9k (for wlan0). Here what i found:

Re: No network available running LiveCD

No need to do a "sudo depmod -a" unless you got a connection.

            After you do a
            sudo modprobe ath9k

            what does
            lsmod

            show?

The driver for my Intel 1500 wireless is "iwlagn".
            jerry@vgnfw140e:~$ lsmod | grep "iwlagn"

I had the same thing on an Eee PC 1001HA. All I had to do was change the wireless network password. Try the letters with all lower case. If that doesn't work try it with capital letters. I found that the live cd was opposite to the installed copy.

Re: No network available running LiveCD

My case is wierd. In the boot the network devices are turned off. In other distro (like arch, ubuntu and so on) I can turn it on and off using the OS, but in kubuntu 9.10 netbook remix no. I discovered that this was the problem and I can't change it after the boot, so the only during the boot time I need to change my network devices always be turned on. But I didn't like this workaround and I came back to ubuntu netbook remix.

                Thanks guys for everything.
