I've got a strange problem with the nvidia kernel module. Every time I boot up, I get an X11 error screen complaining about the nvidia module. It then drops me to a terminal login. If I execute the following as root:
everything works just fine.
Of course, this is kind of annoying, and I'd like to have things work normally. The only thing that I can see that might contribute to the problem is that I'm using Nvidia's module source, not the nvidia package from kubuntu (long story). I'm using version 195.36.31, if that makes a difference.

rmmod nvidia modprobe nvidia service kdm restart
