Issues installing Kubuntu on a HP a1747c

    System specs of note.
    Processor: AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+
    RAM 3gb (2x1gb and 2x500mb) DDR2 667
    Video - Nividia 9500 (PCI-E)
    Link to Motherboard

    Chipset: GeForce 6150 LE
BIOS - Settings of note (being OEM not much here but set to PCI-E for video)
    PSU: Antec Truepower Trio 550w.
I tried installing Kubuntu lastnight. (10.04.1 64 bit - dvd iso) The install went flawlessly. Choose install on whole drive with default settings...
After reboot the system posted then shot up an error after post (hindsight is 20/20 should have wrote down the error) as I recall it was something like nvidia 2 (maybe a nforce in there as well) sms (bus?) error. Then the screen goes blank. I then booted to the the dvd and tried installing it that way.....same error. I had burned the iso at 16x so I reburned a new iso at 4x....same thing....I have Win7 64 bit back on it now.
What I plan on doing now is just doing the duel boot thing....any help or thoughts on this would be appreciated
Other specs Video DVI - Monitor Acer H243H

Update: Replaced the Motherboard with Gigabyte M68M-S2P.
Verified all hardware was detected via running from DVD. Did a side by side install. I can now get the boot loader to choose. Win7 boots just fine. Kubuntu just dies....no error no nothing....
    My scorecard so far...
Laptop - (last weekend) Installed Kubuntu side by side with Win7. Kubuntu ran just fine even updated kde to 4.5 But when I went to run Win7 - reboot during OS load.....would not even boot in safe mode....and was not able to do a repair. Since there is no critical data I just did a wipe and clean install of Win7.

Ok, removed/formated the Kubuntu partition. And fixed the mbr (A little different then doing it in XP...a few more steps and knowedge of the bootrec.exe tool....)
Going to do a little thinking and most likely start this all over again next weekend...
If anyone has any idea's or comments Even if it is welcome you dumb newb. (Which is better then no reply at all)

Regarding Win 7 and partitioning, take a look at this thread, especially Wizard1000's last post: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3113364.0

There's a "How to" in the "Documents" forum for setting up the Nvidia driver, if jockey-kde happens not to offer you a driver.

Thanks for the link.....but I am thinking this time to have it on the entire drive.....but my track record so far is a little bothersome...
I think my first install issue was with the motherboard...that has been replaced. Still thinking on the second desktop failure though.
