    DCOP Communications error

This afternoon when I started my Kubuntu 10.04 virtual machine in Parallels 5.0 on my MacBook Pro, I got the following message:

"There was an error setting up inter-process communications for KDE. The message returned by the system was:
    Could not open network socket
Please check that the "dcopserver" program is running!"

I have no idea what the dcopserver program is, or how to check its status, or how to start it. Can anyone help me out? I've seen some other postings, but they're all at least 3 years old and none with this exact message.
    Thanks,
    Peter V.

    Re: DCOP Communications error

A quick google search suggests that could be cause by trying to run KDE apps as root with "sudo", instead of with "kdesudo".

    In your user's home folder,

    Code:
    rm .ICEauthority .Xauthority
and then restart the X server or reboot.
