Can anyone tell me about fonts please?

    Hi

I installed Ubuntu then Kubuntu for the first time. Using 10.04

In Ubuntu, for the personal fonts are in ./fonts

After installing Kubuntu, I see a folder 'fonts' not '.fonts'

Is the folder 'fonts' like .fonts? Can I remove .fonts if I don't want to go back to Ubuntu?

I saw 5-6 fonts inside the folder. could you tell me what they are..

I copied all the fonts from .fonts to font

Now I'd like to get back to the original state..

    Thanks !!!

System Settings > Font Installer (Computer Administration)

At here the "Font Installer" is installing into a sub directory ~/.fonts/+1st character of the font name.

    =>

Tested with the > Tuffy family - KDE-Look.org

    The fonts are installed ~/.fonts/t/

    Code:
    ls -l ~/.fonts/t/
    total 652

Ok I have to ask because I just realized I dunno! Why not just copy over (this is what I do on a clean install) my cool fonts that suck the life out of my bandwidth to download over and over again to
      /usr/share/fonts
Being sure not to overwrite symlinks with old ones? Won't the font cache be recreated on the next boot?

Re: Can anyone tell me about fonts please?

am running Kubuntu Studio 10.04 Lucid 64 amd after upgrading from ubuntu 9.10 K K, then building Kubuntu. today's update manager updated my kernel with preempt or the real time grade. Nothing about that changed the fact, an Open Office monitor display issue exists. The displayed fonts are about four to six (4 -6) times the OO 3.2 menu set font. I corrected this in 9.10, 9.04 and 8.04 but have lost my notes. I believe this issue involves a problem unrelated to the user. Apologies but I did not see a way to create a new thread.

Help from anyone will be most appreciated.
