Sorry to resurrect the thread, but wanted to check in... about a month ago a KPackageKit update seemed to stop this problem for me. Anyone else see anymore unbidden security updates?

Yes, there was a KPackageKit update that disabled this. Apparently KPackageKit had settings separate from APT that controlled automatic updates, and these were on by default. Since we control all of our settings from software-properties-kde, we disable the KPackageKit settings GUI and replace it with the button to launch software-properties.

Anyways, we turned this feature off by default in KPackageKit, and now you can successfully control this feature through software-properties-kde.
