Hi, I posted briefly my experience doing the upgrade here:
http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3112050.0
Issues that might be resolved are "sleep" or "hibernate" since I changed power management settings to basically never do anything. When I left the machine alone this morning it stayed on but the screen was looking like an old TV with an out of tune picture. Jiggling the mouse fixed it. I haven't left the machine alone long enough since then to see if that is reproducible.
EDIT: under the 31-22 kernel the machine behaves normally when using standard power management settings.
Real Issues I am having:
1. Messages when starting (these appear and stay just long enough for me to almost write them down) then the machine boots normally:
using kernel 31-21
and this last time, a new one, something about a "usb_id[251] unable to access" but didn't get to write it all down.
using kernel 31-22 I just get the first two with slightly different values.
as an aside I was having the issue with the plymouth theme not showing on start up but doing:
fixed it.

2. Won't shut down properly when using kernel 31-21. This looks to be a somewhat common issue. I tried the suggestions from snowhog in this thread
http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3111478.0
but haven't gone any further.
3. with kernel 31-22 -- which I will have to use unless I get the shut down issue fixed the display resolution won't stick -- it goes to the default 1400x1050 -- which is why I wanted to use the kernel 31-21 since that default 1240x1028 is still possible for me to see.
Any comments on those messages on start up would be much appreciated. I will keep poking around for solutions to the display resolution.
EDIT: all in all I will be sticking with the 31-22 kernel and so far really like the "look and feel" of Lucid.
cheers,
ransom
