"useEDID" "False" option is ignored in xorg.conf

    "useEDID" "False" option is ignored in xorg.conf

    Just done a clean install of 10.04. Have copied over my old xorg.conf which should stop it reading the displays EDID (for some reason my LCD TV doesn't think it can do above 1024x768, when it should actually be 1280x768). The Xorg log file shows that it does read xorg.conf, but it seems to ignore the command to ignore EDID....

    Off the top of my head I'd say you don't have any modelines so you've given xorg no choice in the matter. I've also seen these options used with useedid false

    Try adding every manual setting to the xorg..conf. Here's some examples from my old xorg.conf:

    Of course - another way is to spend time with xrandr and get your resolution right, then launch the commands when you start X.
