Now that the 195.36 video driver has been patched so it will install on dual card systems, I am having a problem with kdm, namely, the looping login. I get the kdm greeter screen, log in, the ksplasher screen starts, then jumps back to the login screen.
1. .Xauthority and .ICEauthority are both owned by the user.
2. Moving .kde out of the way does not solve the problem. Looping continues.
3. Gnome does start, and compositing in it works.
4. Installing the proprietary patched driver fixes the problem, so maybe there is no solution right now.
5. Tail of /var/log/kdm.log:
